Kashmir-An unending problem

They feel they have been wronged. And there is a reason for it:

1. The arrangement with the Maharaja was to have a Prime Minister for Kashmir. They would have their own constitution. Only Security, Foreign Policy, Currency were to be Indian. Populist leader Sheikh A. was also a part of this discussion and even he too vouched for India

2. Mountbatten suggested that this issue should be taken to UN as he was the Governor General that time. He made sure we got the best deal by adding the following clauses in the UN resolution

a. Pakistan must vacate from POK first. Mandatory

b. Once POK is vacated, India would vacate and keep bare minimum army just in case Pakistan goes back on its words.

c. Referendum for freedom or joining with either India or Pakistan under complete UN supervision

Pakistan rejected this demand. So India rejected as well. Kashmiris Wronged first time.

3. Sheikh thought that this going nowhere, hence he visited China, US & europe to force both armies to vacate, and allow Kashmir to hold referendum

4. India, rightly felt, it was wronged and hence Sheikh was put in Prison for bypassing India. This was the second time they felt wrong

5. An elected government was removed from power by Governor. Wronged again.

6. There were mild skirmishes for around 25 years and Kashmiris didn’t take arms as expected. But after Khalistan agitation in Punjab was finished, an angered Pak instigated & trained Kashmiris for armed struggle. They knew that if voting happens, there were Hindus who will vote for India. So they cleansed the Kashmiri Pandits out of Kashmir.

Indian armed forces ruthlessly cut down this militancy and resulted in collateral damage. Again wronged.

6. Then Rapes happened, illegal detention, etc. Felt wronged again

And this has been happening over and over again. People of the valley are now blaming any hardship they face to the fact that India is the only reason for it. It has now embedded in their psyche. They don’t realize that some among them have also committed crimes like Murders, Plunders, kidnappings, etc. There is no empathy from any side.

The only way is to bring Hurriyat on table along with other parties. Ask for period of calm in which they wont interfere. Check the progress. Do Infrastructure development for people. Make them happy and then based on the feel good factor, Call for UN resolution again.

Killings can never solve any issues. Its the truth since ancient times. If yes, you would have to completely kill everyone of the enemy/race,etc so that there is no dissent/opposition at all in future. In our case, you can’t kill all the people of the valley. Thats not our bharat is like. The only way to solve this issue is by conversation, development & back to 1947 status quo. Even a better solution would be to use Vajpayee sir’s Kashmiriyat Proposal of heartfelt love among people of different religions as well as bringing back our Kashmiri Pandits back to the valley of their ancestors.

Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya: Why make Fuss when you are to blame

There is a chronology of events which lead to an uncalled Celebrity outrage against Twitter while some cavemen(aka Trolls) called for removal of Twitter Head whom they thought was from a different religion & country!!

If Abhijeet had been given moral education by his parents & teachers, he wouldn’t have been saying things which would bring his Mothers, sisters, Girl Friends, children & wife to shame. I had hoped that his account shouldn’t have been blocked so that we could teach our children, what not to do on Social Network.

Anyways, This is how it all started

  1. BJP IT Cell Member of Madhya Pradesh was arrested for Anti-National Activities. As always, our Media doesn’t have guts to show this on their news channels Nor there is a shouting match on prime-time about Nationalism by Loud-mouths & their cronies. Below are the screenshots & links from national newspapers.

it cellit cell2it cell3it cell4it cell5it cell6

As we can see, this was NOT a fake news. BJP IT cell quickly removed his information from their website, but google has caching. They can cache the older items. There are websites like archive.is, etc which provide back up of web pages as of some date.

2. Then there was another scandal in Bengal & MP, which as always, was ignored by our Media.

Here as well, it was denied that he had any links with BJP. But people found through social media that he is linked to many major MP Leaders. Only then they had to declare that he is removed from BJP.

MP Scandal

Bengal Scandal

3. Based on these 3 news items, Shehla posted the below Tweetshehla comment

Which was factually correct & she had every right to say it. It was not a rumor at all.

4. Then, we have our great singer doing the unthinkable which I hope it haunts his wife everyday of their life. This post should help her to understand her husband in a better way. I hope his children correct their father’s mistake by pointing it out to him.

As this happened, Twitter had to suspend the account as it went not just against the code of conduct for the page, but also against how a civilized person treats the members of the opposite sex.

abhi replies4

So who was wrong here? Clearly Our Singer. But, as we know that since 2014, the country has been practically divided into Right Wing Vs others, this was termed as an injustice for Abhijeet. He was just expressing his right to Speech.

I again hope someone teaches these buffoons that right to free speech doesn’t imply that sexist comments demeaning a person’s character are acceptable without valid/conclusive(This is important) proof. I remember our Yale Graduate Smritiji got offended when someone patronized her as “Dear”. But I didn’t hear an outrage from her yet. But something happened to Sonu Nigam who too felt Twitter wronged Abhijeet. Same was felt by Paresh Rawal. Did they feign blindness to the proofs and the reasons for why it happened?

Lets hope that sanity prevails and the celebrities remember that they have a wife, mother & sister at home to whom they are answerable, forget about common folks like us.

Long Term Jobs: The real Opium for the Masses

We have heard of Religion as an opium for the masses. For India, even cricket does the same work. Special mention should be made about hyper Nationalism, Sanskaar, regionalism & Caste-ism etc which reach the same zeal. But all of these grades of opium would crack open our federal structure in some way or the other. A society addicted to these substances will eventually fall into chaos and disintegration. Its high time some common sense prevails.

The person whom I trusted the most to actually get us out of it is now my Prime Minister. A person who has seen and lived his life through all the above addictions. His Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikaas was the best thing I have ever heard from an Indian Prime-Minister. Earlier, it was either Jawan or kisan or garib or Bahujan or Muslim. This was fresh. This was inspiring. This brought us together to do something for the country for the first time. We knew it could happen if everyone works together under his guidance.

But alas, this veil is thinning as days go by. In the recently concluded UP Elections, it was close to invisible. Falsified Vikas bandwagon was taken over by Akhilesh. While our Vikas Purush’s right-hand man was busy collecting votes based on Jatav-Non Jatav, OBC minus Yadav, Brahmin, etc. Forget about sabka saath, we even heard about Diwali & Eid as 2 different entities or to put it harshly, as competing festivals in my country. But anyways, the election was not won just because of polarization, but due to bad governance of regional parties for last 14 years.

So why am I being cynical of my PM in just 3 years even though I understand that infrastructural changes can infact take time to complete and implement. My cynicism only arises from the fact that him and his ministers’ constant barrage of half-truth about the state of Indian economy. And then we have the paid IT Troll brigade who constantly drum up these numbers a million times to add it subconsciously in the minds young and old alike. In this generation of click & share, no one gives a second thought whether the information is true or false. It is forwarded and just as a ponzi scheme, everyone is duped. The gossips at chai-shop, nukkads, kitty parties with limited audience are now talk of an entire country.

The only way sanity will prevail is when these free sitting idle minds are given work. Once they start working, they wont have time for their idle brains to spew venom on social media. They being productive, means more people buying, which in turn higher production and more jobs.  Instead of the aforesaid opium, I would want my government to give this opium for the masses. Instead of grants for isolating gold from Cow urine, I would suggest additional grants to improve farm productivity. Instead of spending money on advertising Make in India, lets actually make something in India. Instead of giving MNREGA to dig wells, lets actually plant some trees to increase forest cover and slow down the fast moving rain clouds due to wind. Instead of blaming the decline in exports, think of how innovatively we can ramp up our domestic consumption. Instead of talking about Ache din, please do something to bring them. Instead of blaming the previous 60 years like a nagging wife, do something so that we dont blame you 60 years later.

Lets hope our PM who has got the best mandate in years finally starts delivering on ground by bringing in jobs instead of those holistic numbers based on organized sector in an agrarian country called GDP. Let our Indians get addicted to Opium, an opium called Jobs.

Demonetization’s awesome but unintentional Results

Our dear Prime minister & his right-hand man are jubilant at the sudden turn of events in North Indian Elections. As always, the key word has been the patented Ache Din & Vikas.
But 1 crucial factor which also turned the elections his way is Demonetization of high valued currency notes.
It was an amazing decision which even I felt was a master-stroke that night. I felt happy that those who were corrupt would be brought to their knees while god and law fearing people like me would be breathing a sigh of relief
They had time to prepare for it and even necessary man-power. But alas, as we Indians(except ISRO & DRDO) do, we couldnt manage it.
To be frank, the management of demonetisation was left to the affected people of India themselves & the D-Team assumed that as Indians, we will find a way through it. Mr. Modi who has come from the lowest levels of Indian life knows 2 characters which define people of Indian Sub-continent.
a. Our ability to adjust according to the situation without being overtly violent due to our tolerant nature. For e.g. we can accomodate 4 instead of 5 on a train seat. We may show disapproval because of this inconvenience, but we wont fight to death. We grudgingly accept the change and move on. We dont even consider it a problem after few days and it then becomes a part of our life.
b. Our jealous nature. People from the Indian Sub-continent are inherently jealous and can’t stand being left behind. Instead of being inspired by our neighbour growing, we would rather pull him down and laugh at his misfortune. This same nature caused India to be invaded by Middle-eastern rulers and then by the British. Every poor is jealous of the rich. Every Rich is jealous of the other rich.
If an accident occurs between a car and a bike, the crowd which gathers around will bash the car driver. If a pedestrain is knocked down by a car driver, people wont care if the Pedestrain came in between. They will go against the car driver. This is how our mind is set up. This is how we are inherently. I hope someone proves me other-wise.

So when demonetization happened, people faced their problems with sweat on their brows, but a smile on their faces. The poor did curse the step but were seen happy that some rich somewhere is going to lose all his ill-gotten wealth. Daily wage workers lost their jobs as there was no cash, but they didnt cause riots. They just went back to their villages. Middle class didnt mind as they had their digital cards. Even they were happy to hear that crores of black money was being unearthed. The rich industrialists were happy too as they already had wisely converted these cash holdings into fixed assets.

But you might be wondering that you know all this, so whats the unintentional here?
The unintentional was the windfall recieved by so many poor Jan-dhan account holder’s across India. They had 0 in their account till date. And then Mr. Modi came to their rescue on Nov 8th. The landlords, Business-men, Factory Owners, etc all had their cash in hand. But they needed people to roll the cash from black to white. Many labourers from cities had gone back to their villages as no one could pay them. This manpower of poverty stricken individuals got a new lease of life due to Demonetization.

These Business men paid these poor & neglected people to stand in queue for them and exchange their cash for 10% to 30% premium.
The more people from a family, the more they could earn. This was a windfall which was not caste based nor religion based. Everyone benefitted. Hindus & Muslims alike. Muslims were in an even better position as they had lots of children who could bring in more cash.
This was the real diwali for the poor. And what did the government spent? Close to Nothing. Because, they just took money from the rich and gave it to the poor. The rich were able to to keep 70% of their ill-gotten wealth, while the poor got the rest.

Imagine the states where this happened on a large scale? Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and even Madhya Pradesh & Rajastan. All the states where we have rich enterpreneurs and huge number of poor people.

So when you heard the Demonetization stories of deaths & hardships, it was not fake. It was true. But a greater truth was that there were many people who came with someone else’s money to exchange even though there was ample time to exchange. They thought of it as their providence. And they praised the 1 person who did this for them. Mr. Modi. Maybe he didnt envision this after effect. Or, maybe he did. Hence he took the decision before UP Elections.
But this decision helped the poor to gain some money. And in turn every one of them voted BJP in UP elections. Hindus voted along with Muslims in gratitude for his emotional & financial help.
Similarly, the Maharashtra elections for Zilla Parishad & Municipal elections was won by the poor for BJP who were happy about their sudden enrichment.

I would like to hear from people who might disagree about the above reasons. Caste politics aside, everyone including Muslims voted for BJP to give them this astounding victory. Hence I believe that this unintentional consequence had a major effect.

So much Hype, nothing to show

What we see below is the latest rankings for ease of doing business by world agencies.

The impression build in my country is that India is the best destination for Business. We have got the highest FDI among major economies and that is all thanks to our Super-human PM. He has convinced our gullible Janta, that he has brought superb governance and has brought the feel good factor back into the country. Hence people are investing money here. They are making in India.

But is it really happening?
Just check the latest ratings about ease of doing business. India is still languishing at 130. And no my brethren this is not due to the last 60 years as we opened up our market only since 1992.
As a matter of fact, our Right-wing brigade’s bogey-man Pakistan is the top 10 most improved country for ease of doing business.
But I didnt hear them shouting on top of their voice, except when they get bombed by their self-created terrorism.
I didnt hear Make in Pakistan or Troll army talking about Nwaz Sharif working for 18 hours. But they still managed this feat.

How I may ask? And the answer is simple
To get reforms done, you have to have working relationship with the opposition parties. You need to discuss and agree to few points from them. You need to keep the ball rolling. Get the bills passed. You cant talk about peeping into other people’s bathroom and watch someone taking shower with their raincoats on. You can’t go about your vindictive politics. You have to take everyone together. You don’t have to agree to all. But empathize with the demands and work on it.

Pakistan did just that. Other than the chatter box Imran who everyday wants to lay seize to Islamabad, politicians across their party lines worked together to get their reforms passed in parliament. That’s how you do it in a democracy. You dont bull-doze things.

Congratulations to Pakistan for their effort. But we ll surely take a leap forward by next year as GST has been agreed now.

Ease of doing business

Formula for Ache Din: GDP(Market Price) = GDP(Factor Cost) + Indirect Taxes – Subsidies

How to get the Ache Din? Atleast on Paper
PLAN A: Really bring about ache din by increasing lots of Jobs with simultaneous reduction in corruption
PLAN B: Either change the criteria of what Ache Din feels like & make people believe that ache din have come

Mr. Modi would have rightly felt that 5 years is quite a short period to achieve plan A. So he took on Plan B with utter dedication.
He hired a Yes Man for the job aka Arun Jaitley who would pursue Plan B with utmost zeal

Now we come to How this can be done:
Branding the intellectuals & NGOs as people who are part of this corrupt system, he managed to distance the common people away from their opinions. He portrayed them as the monsters responsible for common peoples’ misery. Such was the fervor that whatever the right-wing narrative plays, is the only truth in India nowadays.
Then he changed the way we calculate GDP. He managed to feed this Doped Janta, that high GDP means Ache Din. High GDP means India is growing faster.
So the Ache din Formula was tweaking how we calculated growth till date.

GDP(Market Price) = GDP(Factor Cost) + Indirect Taxes – Subsidies
Rather than going into details, I ll only touch Indirect Taxes and Subsidies

Mr. Modi brought in new taxes, Services Cess, surcharges, transaction charges, etc
By sheer luck, he got elected when the oil price fell as well as the commodity market. So he got a chance to reduce subsidies.
He exorted the doped Janta to give up subsidies. He pushed for digital economy to bring more people under indirect taxes.

Just by touching these 2 items, he managed to increase GDP. He is an extremely good orator and can be compared in this skill only next to Adolf Hitler. He sold it to his fans and foes alike.

Mr. Singh, Amartya Sen, etc didnt explain this simple formula of what he did to achieve these numbers. They couldn’t simplify and explain this to our doped janta of what happened.

But his luck will run out.
Oil price will rise and so would the commodity. GDP is still dependent on what people produce & people sell. There is a buyer’s market now. This will lose steam soon. And then it will be seller’s market. And imagine people reduce their spending. Then where would Mr. Jaitley run?
